J'ai \u00e9galement effectu\u00e9 un stage postdoctoral en biologie mol\u00e9culaire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qu'est-ce qui vous a amen\u00e9 \u00e0 suivre une carri\u00e8re dans la recherche et \u00e0 \u00e9tudier la dystrophie musculaire en particulier ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mon p\u00e8re est un \u00e9minent scientifique et j'ai toujours pens\u00e9 que je m'orienterais vers les sciences. C'est assez tard, \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9, que j'ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que j'aimerais aussi faire de la m\u00e9decine.  J'ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 m'int\u00e9resser \u00e0 la dystrophie musculaire lorsqu'au cours de mes \u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieures, j'ai clon\u00e9 (par hasard) un g\u00e8ne, la dystrobr\u00e9vine, qui pr\u00e9sente certaines similitudes avec la dystrophine, le g\u00e8ne manquant dans la dystrophie musculaire de Duchenne (DMD).  J'ai appris tout ce que je pouvais sur la dystrophie musculaire et j'ai \u00e9t\u00e9 fascin\u00e9 par les d\u00e9couvertes, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, de mol\u00e9cules associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la dystrophine et impliqu\u00e9es dans d'autres dystrophies musculaires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quels sont les sujets que vous \u00e9tudiez ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Je dirige un laboratoire translationnel centr\u00e9 sur le d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles th\u00e9rapies pour la dystrophie musculaire.  Nous \u00e9tudions actuellement des mod\u00e8les de DMD, de dystrophie musculaire facio-scapulo-hum\u00e9rale et de LGMD.  En clinique, j'\u00e9tudie les effets d'un m\u00e9dicament anti-myostatine produit par Pfizer dans la LGMD2I.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment vos travaux aideront-ils les patients ? Sont-ils plut\u00f4t de nature scientifique ou pourraient-ils devenir un traitement pour les LGMD ou les m\u00e9decins en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nos recherches en laboratoire sur l'AAV et la th\u00e9rapie cellulaire ont le potentiel de devenir des traitements pour la LGMD et les MD en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.  Si l'essai clinique du m\u00e9dicament anti-myostatine de Pfizer est concluant, le chemin vers le traitement sera le plus court.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qu'aimeriez-vous que les patients et les autres personnes int\u00e9ress\u00e9es par la LGMD sachent \u00e0 propos de la recherche (vos propres projets et le domaine en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral) ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique a fait d'\u00e9normes progr\u00e8s au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.  Il est r\u00e9aliste de penser que nous aurons des essais de th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique syst\u00e9mique pour la LGMD dans un avenir proche.  Dans mon propre travail, nous d\u00e9veloppons de nouveaux AAV pour mieux cibler les muscles et non le foie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qu'est-ce qui vous incite \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 travailler dans ce domaine ? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La population de patients est irr\u00e9sistible.
