At what age were you\ndiagnosed<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was 12, and the year was 1985. Initially, I was diagnosed Becker Muscular\nDystrophy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quels ont \u00e9t\u00e9 vos premiers sympt\u00f4mes ?<\/strong>:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first symptoms were trouble running in gym class, out of breath climbing\nstairs, walking and running on tip-toes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have other family\nmembers who have LGMD: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

N<\/strong>o, I am the only person in my family with LGMD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you find to be the\ngreatest challenges in living with LGMD<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the greatest challenges is living with the knowledge that this\ncondition is progressive and not knowing how long I will have function, and\nabilities. I make the most of everyday especially because of this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your greatest\naccomplishment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have many! Chief among them is meeting my wife Vanessa, and now raising 2\nboys, as well as being a full-time music teacher for the past 25 years in a\nmiddle school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has LGMD influenced you\ninto becoming the person you are today:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has shown me the that life is precious and we all need to take time to\nbreathe and look for the best in all people and all of our relationships. I\nhave learned patience, and to not sweat the small stuff. Every problem can be\naddressed and made better with people working together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you want the world to\nknow about LGMD<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That people with LGMD, and any chronic illness have good and bad days, just\nlike everyone else, and that we are leading happy, fulfilling lives. We are\npositive and work hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your LGMD could be \u201ccured\u201d\ntomorrow, what would be the first thing that you would want to do<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a percussionist and drummer at heart. Over the years, I have mostly lost the ability to play. When cured, I will join a band and rock out, like I did in my youth! Ha-ha! Peace to you ALL.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
